Our Mission
What We Stand For
Hold local government accountable. Ensure every Capetonian receives clean water, safe housing, reliable electricity and quality education — what the Constitution already demands.
Integrity. Service. Accountability. Respect. Politics is temporary — service is permanent. We do not seek power for its own sake.
Our manifesto is not a wish list. It is the Constitution's own instruction to municipal government — binding, justiciable and measurable. #MustIsMust
2026 Platform
Eight pillars — every one a constitutional obligation, not just a campaign promise.
Lower bills through smart purchasing. Rooftop solar on homes, schools and clinics. Fight electricity theft and waste.
Affordable homes on well-located land. Speed up approvals. Promote long-term rent certainty. Protect tenants.
Renewable energy, electric mobility, sea water cooling, zero waste, protect biodiversity.
Reliable electricity, fair tenders, affordable licences, skills development for entrepreneurs.
No hungry children. Expand school meals. Support single parents. Safe routes to schools. Libraries open after hours.
Constitutional obligations, not suggestions. SDP will hold the City accountable to deliver what the Constitution demands.
Strong SAPS partnerships. Better lighting. CCTV in hotspots. Safe streets for every family.
Fix leaks, potholes and broken lights faster. Hold contractors accountable for quality and time.

2026 — #MustIsMust
Cape Town Municipal Elections, 4 November 2026. What we promise is what the Constitution has made compulsory.
“What we promise is what the Constitution has made compulsory. We don't deal with promises. We deal with a constitutional obligation.”
The Service Delivery Party is named after Sections 152 and 153 of the Constitution. Our name is not a slogan. It describes the job every councillor and municipality is constitutionally bound to do — a job most have not been doing for 25 years.
Section 152
Objects of Local Government
Section 153
The Duty to Prioritise
Every municipality must structure and manage its administration, budgeting and planning to give priority to the basic needs of the community. The Constitution uses the word "must" — this is a binding constitutional duty.
We propose a People's IDP — an Integrated Development Plan built from the documented needs of every community in Cape Town, including those in the Metro South East historically under-served by capital investment. Read our book Cape Town 2030 for the full framework.
Section 153 Is Not a Suggestion. It Is a Constitutional Obligation.
SDP will make sure our city delivers. Vote for us and you are not voting for promises that can be quietly abandoned. You are voting for the enforcement of rights the Constitution has already made obligatory. #MustIsMust
2026 PR Councillor
Cape Town doesn't need more politicians. It needs community guardians. Builders. Problem solvers. People who serve.
SDP Western Cape Provincial Coordinator & PR Councillor Candidate
Taz Cassim is the SDP Western Cape Provincial Coordinator and the party's candidate for PR Councillor in the 2026 Cape Town Local Government Elections. A champion of affordable city living, he is committed to cheaper electricity, rent stabilisation, safer communities and putting children first.
